About this game
Share Gauge is a proportion game. Two groups appear, each with a filled part and a whole. You judge which filled part is the larger share of its whole and tap it.
It practises proportional reasoning, the ability to compare parts of different wholes, which you use when you compare 2 out of 4 with 3 out of 8. It is the foundation for fractions and percentages.
How to play
- Look at each group's filled part and its whole.
- Work out which is the larger share of its whole.
- Tap that group. The comparisons get closer as you improve.
Tips
- Picture each share of its whole before comparing.
- Turn each share into something you know, like half or a quarter.
- A bigger filled part does not always mean a bigger share, so check the whole.
How it adapts
Kids see comparison bars and larger differences. Teens and adults get closer comparisons. The difficulty adjusts to how you play.

What is proportional reasoning?
It is comparing amounts by their relationship to a whole, like which pizza slice is a bigger share of its pizza.
Do I need to know fractions?
Not formally. Kids' levels use pictures, and you can judge by eye.
Why does the game show bars for kids?
The bars make the relationship easier to see while children build confidence.
