About this game
What Comes Next is a pattern game. A short sequence of numbers appears, and you find the rule behind it and pick the number that continues it.
It is a form of inductive reasoning: you look at a few examples and work out the general rule. That is the same kind of thinking used in many reasoning tests, and it is useful any time you have to spot a pattern from limited information.
How to play
- Read the numbers in the sequence.
- Work out how each number leads to the next.
- Tap the number that comes next. The rules get harder as you improve.
Tips
- Check the gaps between numbers before choosing.
- If the gaps are not steady, try multiplying, or look at the gaps between the gaps.
- Test your rule on the whole sequence before you tap.
How it adapts
Kids get simpler steady patterns with smaller numbers. Teens and adults get more complex rules and larger numbers. The difficulty adjusts to how you play.
